Productivity Hacks and Tips - Increase Output (Live)
View Post
Learn how to increase your productivity to perform at higher levels. When it comes to Increasing output and improving productivity, time management is our friend. In this Livestream, we take an in depth look at how to be more productive.

What's the big deal about increased productivity, anyway?

Well, a few fun things happen when you get stuff done besides checking off boxes on your to do list.

  • you feel a strong sense of accomplishment
  • you feel you can unwind when the day is done
  • you can enjoy unwinding and relaxing when the day is done
  • you feel energized
  • you sleep better knowing you got a lot done
  • you start to build momentum for the rest of the week, month, year

So, now the big question is What can I do to improve my productivity? That's what we unpack in this live conversation.

And, if you haven't already, check out our lesson on this topic: Increase Productivity: Input vs Output where we share a highly effective strategy for improving your output.

In this Livestream, Greg and I discuss some more ways of boosting productivity.

Here are a few of the highlights from this riveting conversation. And we've divided it into two separate categories - one geared more towards Professionals and one more apropos for Creatives.

If you're trying to get more done (for work, for your job, for the company you own, etc.)

  • Audit your day

Once you time-block and make a schedule for yourself, look at how you actually spent your day. Did you keep to the schedule? Did you get distracted during the workday and veer of track? See where your time is going and you can make necessary adjustments to improve productivity.

  • Get enough sleep

If you're feeling lethargic and unmotivated, it might be because you're not getting enough shut-eye. When you get enough sleep, not only does your mood improve but so too do your energy levels. Try going to bed a bit earlier and see if more sleep improves your overall productivity.

  • Give yourself a (fake) due date

Similar to working out and exhausting your muscles with time under tension, a similar strategy applies to boost your productivity. If you give yourself a fake due date, that helps you become more productive because you have less time to complete the project. This is especially helpful when you don't have anyone telling you when what's due.

If you're trying to be more creative

  • Read

Reading does wonders. If you are in a creative rut and are struggling to create something then it's super important to give your mind a rest. Reading is amazing because it helps you rest your brain while simultaneously engaging and stimulating it. Choose quality input with your reading because that will give you more mileage when it comes time to producing output.

  • Move your body

Any type of movement works for increasing your creativity. Similar to reading, it gives your mind a chance to rest while you do something else. High-performing individuals have reported that when they are unmotivated or lack creative juices they engage in a high-intensity activity to help them get back in the zone. I, too, can attest to this. Pushing your body to its limits for even a short while not only gets those creative juices flowing again but also puts you in the best mood ever! And when I'm in a good mood I am more motivated to create something spectacular :)

  • Meditative activity

Meditative activities like meditation, yoga, walking, zen tangle, and house chores can also help increase your creativity because these types of activities get you into a restful flow state. When you're in zen mode, ideas tend to come more naturally without being forced. Essentially, you're quieting the mind enough that you can create the space for new thoughts and ideas.

These are just a few ways of improving productivity and increasing your creative power.
